Mole Bio & Genetic Engineering: Lab-Based Learning (GR10-12)

Mole Bio & Genetic Engineering: Lab-Based Learning (GR10-12)

from 635.00

This course is a rare pre-collegiate opportunity for those students who want to apply their basic understanding of molecular biology's "central dogma" and molecular genetics to a hands-on, lab-focused series of sessions that explore one variation within the approximately 0.01% of the human genome, which accounts for human genetic and phenotypic diversity. Using polymerase chain reaction and gel electropheresis, students have an opportunity to investigate a genetic variation as well as explore the ethical implications of genetic alterations raised by their experimentation.

Student familiarity with the "central dogma" of molecular biology and molecular genetics is highly desirable.
