Electr Engineering & the Life Sciences (GR8-9)

Electr Engineering & the Life Sciences (GR8-9)

from 625.00

In this course, students design, build, and program controlled environments using Arduino and simple electronic components, e.g., sensors, probes, etc. Examples of such environments include specialized aquariums and mini greenhouses. These environments are critical for lab-based research, whether maintaining model organisms for cancer research to studying extremophiles.

In this interdisciplinary course, students have the opportunity to:

  • Assess the biological requirements for different living organisms and translate those requirements into a designed environment
  • Learn about programming, electronics, and control systems
  • Engage in engineering design processes and practices
